About Nuno Neves

Nuno Neves was born in Evora, Portugal, in 1976, after his family came from Mozambique in 1974, when the war in the Portuguese colonies ended. Since childhood his interests have been divided between writing, drawing and music composition, as long as a narrative or the expression of feelings and ideas is present. His first novel was published in 2003 by Editorial Presença with the title O Sentido Latente (The Latent Sense), a Portuguese written sci-fi story about the use of emphaty as a weapon. After finishing his master's degree on English Studies with a thesis about the aesthetics of Virginia Woolf and the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, his main focus has been the writing of aphorisms on several aspects of life.

Beyond the Belly Button is a collection of aphorisms and reflections in which dry humor and objectivity are reunited to give a fresh glimpse of reality.

He also writes and illustrates children's books and is on the process of writing his second novel in Portuguese.
